13th La Pluma Journalism Awards Call for Entries
The San Diego chapter of Latino Journalists of California (CCNMA) announced this week a call for entries for the 13th annual La Pluma Journalism Awards.
The deadline for this year’s competition is Monday, Aug. 25, 2008.
Professional and student journalists from print, broadcast and radio are invited to submit their work. There are more than 20 categories to choose from, including awards for best news stories and investigative work.
Winners will be recognized at a special VIP reception at the 13th annual La Pluma Journalism Scholarship and Awards ceremony. The event will be held Friday, Sep. 26 at the San Diego Union-Tribune building in Mission Valley.
Stories must be about issues involving or pertinent to Latinos, in English or Spanish. CCNMA San Diego welcomes all media in San Diego County and Tijuana to participate in the contest.
The La Pluma Scholarship and Journalism Awards raises funds for educational seminars, student scholarships and internships. It also helps fund the Multi-Cultural High School Journalism workshop, which completed its 25th year of helping San Diego, Imperial and Riverside county high school students from diverse backgrounds get an up-close and personal look at careers in the media.
Please join us Sept. 26 as we celebrate a special night for professional and future journalists. For more information about the contest, visit www.ccnmasd.org or call (619) 498-6652. Entries can be submitted to: La Pluma Contest c/o CCNMA San Diego, P.O. Box 370603, San Diego, CA 92137.
